Brazil mandates up to 24-hour delays on large crypto transfers, effective January 2027
Brazil's central bank ordered exchanges to delay crypto transfers above $10,000 sent overseas or to self-custody wallets by up to 24 hours, along with other transfers flagged as risky. The rule takes effect on January 1, 2027.
Why it matters for the crypto market
The requirement slows capital movement out of Brazil and gives regulators time to review cross-border crypto flows, restricting access for users moving funds internationally.
