EU adds crypto firms to Russia sanctions, eyes ban on non-EU crypto providers
The EU released its 21st package of sanctions against Russia, targeting a network of entities worth roughly $120 billion and naming 14 crypto companies for the first time. The package also proposes, for the first time, barring crypto service providers based outside the EU from operating within the bloc.
Why it matters for the crypto market
Extending sanctions to named crypto firms and potentially banning non-EU providers would significantly restrict how global crypto exchanges and issuers can serve European customers.
