Coinbase lets businesses accept payments from AI software agents
Coinbase has rolled out a feature allowing its business customers to accept USDC stablecoin payments sent by autonomous AI software agents, using a payment protocol called x402 that the exchange developed internally. The company also introduced AI-powered trading tools and a developer kit aimed at building financial infrastructure for AI agents.
Why it matters for the crypto market
This is one of the first major exchanges to enable machine-to-machine crypto payments at a commercial scale, signaling a new category of crypto use beyond human users.
