The US moves to finally set clear rules for crypto
The CLARITY Act would split US oversight of crypto, giving the CFTC authority over coins treated as commodities and the SEC authority over those treated as securities. It passed the House in July 2025 and is awaiting a full Senate vote. It is not yet law.
Why it matters for the crypto market
For years it has been unclear which US regulator is in charge of which coins, leaving the market in a gray zone. This bill would draw clear lines, which is what big institutions have wanted before investing heavily. It is not law yet.
