Nigerians turn to stablecoins as the naira falls
Nigeria's currency, the naira, lost a large part of its value against the US dollar over recent years. With dollars hard to get through banks, many Nigerians use dollar stablecoins to save, to send money home, and to pay across borders. Nigeria is consistently one of the top countries in the world for grassroots, everyday crypto use.
Why it matters for the crypto market
Where the banking system is limited or the local currency is unstable, stablecoins act as a digital dollar that anyone with a phone can hold and send.
